How to get to Heaven According to the Bible
Are you completely sure that you will be going to Heaven when you die?
Knowing this will give great comfort to your soul! I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life,”
The first thing that you have to realize, is that the wrong things we’ve done keep us from deserving Heaven. We can’t be good enough!
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4b
If you are like most people, you try to be a good person. The problem is, that in order to deserve Heaven, you must be total without sin on your record. Heaven is so holy and perfect that there is no sin allowed! Before you can ever go to Heaven, you must realize that you have not earned it by your religion, your sincerity, or your good deeds. We have all fallen short of deserving Heaven!
But Jesus provided the only way to get to Heaven!
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.’” John 14:6
We do not deserve Heaven, yet He still loves us! He loves us so much that He sent His son, Jesus, to suffer and die on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. Jesus was then buried, and three days later, He rose from the dead, proving that He was the Son of God. Jesus has already died in your place to take the punishment for your sin. If you don’t accept His taking your punishment, then you will receive the punishment yourself, spiritual death in Hell. Please realize that Jesus took the punishment for your sins opened the only door that will let you enter into Heaven.
Understand that you must trust in Jesus alone to get to Heaven
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36
Our sins are wrong – so wrong that the Son of God had to die to take the punishment for them. The good news is that God’s love is so great that He is waiting right now to take your sins away. The key is that you must believe in Jesus and trust Him as your way to Heaven. In the Bible, the word “believe” means to “depend upon”. You must depend upon what Jesus did for you in order to go to Heaven when you die. If you are sorry for your sins and believe that Jesus died to take the punishment for your sins, and you are willing to accept Jesus as your only way to Heaven, now is the time to accept the Lord’s gift of eternal life.
You could pray something like this:
“Lord, I know that I have sinned and that because of my sin, I don’t deserve Heaven. I am sorry for my sin, and I right now accept Jesus as my Savior. Please save me and take me to Heaven when I die. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
